Because I like to climb things and am a bit of a fool, I managed to fuck my shit up on Thursday. Update on whether I have broken or simply sprained something coming next week! Fascinating.

This walking around on crutches business is actually quite... what's the word... educational? On some level a nice wake-up call. Since getting back from Double Edge Theatre, after that surreal detour to NYC, I've been so lazy.

Watching Waking Life in a daze last night:
Which is the most universal human characteristic: fear, or laziness?

If we wanted we could argue that they are, on some level, the same thing, but whatever, not interesting right now. This end-of-summer, the monthish of mid-August to late-September I have not been trying very hard. I mostly was worrying and thinking about things that I would, in some nebulous future, put extreme effort towards.

Both my body and my mind were taking things for granted. And now I am taking a lot of interesting, challenging classes and have a BA project to bring into the world over the next six months or so. I've been cast as a witch in the Dean's Men production of Macbeth, which, thanks to Augie Praley, a director I'm excited to work with, will be very physically demanding.

Right now, getting from one end of my apartment to the other is, well, kind of hard. But I think it may in some fucked up way be good for me to limit ease as an option.

I guess the point is, I was certainly the most cheerful person in the entire ER at midnight Thursday night.

This morning we ran for two and a half hours, mostly uphill or through the woods or crawling along the forest floor or walking backwards with our eyes to the sky and feeling with our feet.
No pretty picture for this post, as I'm transitioning to a new computer and shit is crazy.
A couple of things: this weekend I went to ThreeWalls gallery to check out a piece by Material Exchange, which is chock full of UChicago alumni. Perhaps I will write about it some time! I also went to see the Cirque du Soleil show Kooza and the contortionists totally blew my mind. Perhaps I will also write about that some time! Also I listened to a sweet mashup of an even sweeter Heaven Seventies song! So many exciting things that I am running out of exclamation points, just as I am running out of the ability to function like a sane person without going to sleep. But! I am packing! Because in a few hours I am leaving for Double Edge Theatre, to return July 22nd. Awesome.
oh my god I can't stop listening to the Blood Brothers and I think that means I need to go to the hospital or something.

also, I am seeing Cirque du Soleil for the first time tonight. I'm very curious/excited. Perhaps I will write about it. But perhaps not for a long time because:

Early Sunday morning I leave for the Summer Training Intensive at Double Edge Theatre in Ashfield, MA. I will be getting my ass kicked by clowns approximately 14 hours a day, and so I might drop off the face of the Internet almost entirely. I get back July 22nd, and will probably have a lot to talk about. Sweet!
